Kristina Michelle Revisited

Since her first interview here, the events Cleveland-based actress and producer Kristina Michelle runs have grown considerably. 2016 marks the fifth showing of the Horror Hotel International Film Festival. What started as a one-day show has grown into a four-day event that now includes multiple screening rooms, panel discussions, and the ever-popular Scream Queen competition. The other event she produces, the Indie Gathering International Film Festival, now will include the United Latino International Film Festival, which will feature Spanish language indie films from around the world. Also debuting this year at both events will be a car show and outdoor drive-in-style film showings.

In the studio on the Reel TV Network, Kristina still hosts Horror Hotel as her alter ego, Lamia (featured here in May of 2014), with occasional guests from the horror industry. Indie Film School, a show that's shot at the aforementioned conventions and Indie Music Scene, hosted by Jessica Graie, who features music videos and interviews with indie bands, are two other shows Kristina produces. Bianca Allaine Revisited

Actress and producer Bianca Allaine talks Zombinatrix and more in her third exclusive interview with Idol Features. Initially announced last summer, as covered here, and set to start filming in April, Zombinatrix was co-written by Bianca and she also stars as Mistress Tawny, a lady who's "into whips and brains." Also tentatively slated to appear in the film in her long-awaited screen comeback, is Frankenhooker herself, cult icon Patty Mullen.

Besides giving as many details on the highly anticipated Zombinatrix as she can at this point, Bianca also talks about several of other projects that include her earlier works such as 2008's Albino Farm, in which her beauty was hidden under the makeup and appliances of the "Pig Bitch," and her web horror film review show, Watch These Films with Bianca Allaine. She also gives the status on some of her other films listed at her IMDb page, a few that probably won't be seen anytime soon. Jessica Felice

Jessica Felice began her acting career on the stage, doing dinner theater, as well as touring to do children's theater and summer stock. Besides acting on the stage, she also performed as an illusionist and escape artist, both solo and alongside one of the most acclaimed illusionists in the country. One of her highlighted feats was escaping from a straitjacket, an item she still has as one of her prized show biz souvenirs.

Jessica's first film role was in Steve Yeager's The Rosens, in which she played the challenging role of Rachael, whom Jessica describes as a mentally abused friend of the main character, who comes into her own throughout the film. Since then, Jessica went on to further expand her acting range and has become writer-director Shawn Anthony's favorite lead actress. Soulmate: True Evil Never Dies, The Haunted, and the upcoming Manifestation (written by David R. Williams) are a few of Shawn's films Jessica stars in. Her notable TV series roles include episodes of I Was Possessed, the crime documentary Southern Fried Homicide, and Harvest Moon Productions' currently-running Tales of Horror, in which she plays the darkly-seductive Lilith Death.

Also a very talented voiceover actress, Jessica treated me to uncanny and impromptu impressions of Margaret Hamilton's Wicked Witch of the West, Bubble (from the British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous), and Ms. Swan (from Mad TV) during our recent interview. Tales of Horror with Lilith Death

Lilith Death (played by actress Jessica Felice) isn't your typical, campy horror film hostess, if you consider Elvira as such. Lilith delivers a more subtle humor and has been described as a flirty dominatrix-style vixen, who adds levity and nostalgia to the show. As the above teaser from Episode 3 of Harvest Moon Motion Pictures' Tales of Horror reveals, Lilith's alluring manner, enhanced by a sultry British accent, provide an eerily provocative segue to the films featured on the show.

In the Dungeon with Onyx Hades

Horror show hostess Onyx Hades (pronounced "On-iks Hay-dees") in set to debut her new Internet show In the Dungeon with Onyx Hades. The show, recorded from Onyx's hauntingly seductive manor, is slated to feature horror film reviews, as well as occasional guests.

Onyx, who's the former co-host of the podcast show Horrorcopia, very recently told me that she'll be hosting In the Dungeon solo. It's scheduled to make its debut on Halloween (just two days away, as this goes to press) but that date may be pushed back to Miss Hades' birthday; November the 4th.

You can catch In the Dungeon with Onyx Hades at it's official Youtube channel. Onyx promises it to be a lot of fun ....and hopefully a little creepy, at times. She likes creepy.

2014 Christmas Compilation

With Christmas around the corner, here are a selection of some of the lovely and talented ladies whose interviews and featured articles have graced the pages of this site, decked out in the spirit of the season. Starting it off is actress and talk show hostess Michelle Tomlinson who could have, but did not bake that pie herself. Bagel Soo - Bath Time

Despite a commenter at Reddit saying they call her “Bagel Soo” because he just “cream cheesed” in his pants while watching one of her videos, Bagel Soo’s nickname has nothing to do with the O-shaped bread.

 

Michelle Tomlinson

A native of New Mexico, actress and acting coach Michelle Tomlinson moved to Los Angeles right after graduating from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in theater. She began her film career by doing student films, which was sort of on-the-job training for her since up to that point, she only had stage experience. She's since become a well-respected indie film actress, having appeared in dramas, comedies, and of course, horror. A few of her notable film roles of the latter genre have been in Kevin Tenny's Brain Dead, and in Matt Zettell's 2007 frightmare The Cellar Door and his upcoming Axe to Grind.

Early this year, Michelle debuted as the host of her own one-on-one interview show, An Intimate Look with Michelle Tomlinson, which she also co-produces. Michelle tells me it's a project she considers a labor of love. After writing at her blog about her experiences of being diagnosed, fighting, and eventually beating papillary thyroid cancer, she had many responses from people who gave her support and inspiration with their own stories to tell. Ms. Vampy Interviews Michelle Tomlinson and Denise Gossett

Above is the debut episode of Ms. Vampy entitled "Coffin Tawk" [sic] featuring Brooke Lewis as hostess Miss Vampy and her guests, actresses Michelle Tomlinson and Denise Gossett.

The show Ms. Vampy only ran for four episodes in 2009 but the Brooklyn vampiress followed it up in 2011 with Ms. Vampy's Tween Tawk, Teen Tawk & In Between Tawk, which ran for six episodes, and in 2013 with Ms. Vampy's Bites and Ms. Vampy's Love Bites, which ran for five and four episodes, respectively. You can read all about Ms. Vampy, and some about her alter ego, Brooke Lewis (who really impressed yours truly in the 2010 short, Sprinkles), at her official website.

As for Ms. Vampy's lovely Coffin Tawk guests; Denise has a long and impressive list of credits that begins with her small screen debut as Lena Luthor in the TV series Superboy. Michelle, whose acting resume is equally impressive, has a upcoming and exclusive interview that will appear at this very site in the near future.

Welcome to My Darkside - Women in Horror Documentary

Slated for release in November, Last Doorway Productions' documentary Welcome to My Darkside, features interviews and commentary from 35 talented ladies who've made names for themselves in the horror genre. Their characters have been on the giving, as well as the receiving ends of murder weapons of choice, and they have worked on both sides of the camera.

Above is the full and most recent episode of Horror Hotel, shown on the Reel TV Network and hosted by Lamia (pronounced "Lay-me-uh"), portrayed by Kristina Michelle, the hard-working lady behind the Reel TV Network. As she introduces the 1959 Vincent Price classic The House on Haunted Hill, one can tell "The Queen of the Dark" is a very knowledgeable horror film historian who gives the facts and stats on the movies she hosts, as well as what was going on, horror-wise, during its era. Exuding a more subtle sexuality and without the campiness of Elvira, who's known for delivering double entendre-laced monologs while spilling out of a sleek form-hugging dress, Lamia does some segments of the show with her "co-host" Lilith Alexandria (Kristina's real-life pet python, that we first see at 25:16). During the closing segment, rather than wishing viewers "unpleasant dreams," Lamia signs off with "stay bloody" and an evil, fang-baring hiss.

Morrison of Discovery Photo, it gave me the idea for this Christmas-themed post featuring some of the ladies I've had the pleasure of interviewing over the past few years. Miss Misery's Movie Massacre

As it's coming up on the Halloween season, here's the Queen of Horror in the San Francisco Bay Area, Reyna Young, better know by Bay Area horror fans as Miss Misery, with a teaser for her Movie Massacre.

Besides hosting Movie Massacre, which is now getting ready to go into its fourth season, Reyna is now earning some attention for her acting roles in several short films. The most recent being in two of her own, Sally, and Monster of the Golden Gate, the latter of which she tells me is a throwback to the awesome black and white cheesy B monster movies of the 1950s and 60s. She'll also be appearing in a small role in Patrick O'Bell's The Divine Order, due out later this year and she recently published her book of poetry, entitled Dislocated Thoughts. 

Erin Tjoe in "Too Good to Waste"

The above video still is from a recent ad for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission's water conservation campaign. It may give the impression that actress Erin Tjoe is going to be ill, but in fact, she's portraying a consumer who's made aware of the value of saving water. The 30-second spot is one of a series of ads being put out by the SFPUC, that feature Erin.

WTF with Bianca Barnett

I know it's too late to be featuring a Christmas-themed piece and way past the Halloween season for a horror-themed one, but this is the latest and last episode of the first season of the fright film review show, WTF with Bianca Barnett. (It stands for "watch these films" and yes, of course; at first, I thought it stood for "what the fuck" like I'm sure most of you did.) This one posted on Christmas Eve and here Bianca gives her review of the 1980 Yuletide slasher flick, Christmas Evil. 

The online syndicated show has become quite popular and is carried on Apple iTunes and several websites such as Horror Palace, where you can find all season 1 episodes on video and podcast. To learn more about the 2011 Golden Cob award-winning Scream Queen, check out her website and my August, 2011 interview with her, which is the best interview with Bianca on the net, despite what others may claim.

USA Up All Night with Rhonda Shear

I fondly remember watching Rhonda Shear host USA Up All Night on Friday nights during the early-90s. (Since I was rarely home on those pre-TiVo nights, I learned how to program my VCR to record the show so I could view it after I got home.) Rhonda took over from original Friday night hostess Caroline Schlitt (whatever happened to her, huh?) in 1990, a year after the show's debut, and remained until USA Up All Night ended its run in 1998.

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried hosted the Saturday night show and I mention this here only because he sent me a free t-shirt during that time.The above is from 1992 and features Rhonda with guests Linnea Quigley, Jayne Hamil, and Jewel Shepard. The films shown that night were the B classics Vice Academy and Vice Academy 2, both of which starred Linnea and Jayne (and unfortunately, both of which USA Network edited for television). Oh, and in 2013, you can hopefully look forward to an exclusive interview right here with at least one of the aforementioned ladies.

Little Red Riding Hood, Erin Tjoe

I don’t know why the ad department at Motorola cast an Asian girl as Little Red Riding Hood for their new Droid RAZR M commercial, but Erin Tjoe makes a great one as she shows how she uses hers to avoid the Big Bad Wolf. Kristina Michelle

Although Kristina Michelle considers herself an actress first and foremost, she does many jobs behind the camera, as well. The Ohio native is the producer and host of The Reel Show on the Reel TV Network, as well as producer and host of the Indie Gathering International Film Festival, which she has organized herself since last year.

After taking up martial arts a few years ago and earning a first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, she's well-qualified to do her own stunts and action scenes in all her films. Since adding stuntwoman to her resume, she was presented with the top honor at the 2011 Indie Gathering Stunt Competition.

In addition to the positive things I read and heard about Kristina before doing this interview with her, I can add that she's very punctual, gives good, detailed answers, and gets an "A" for spelling and grammar. Oh, and she's definitely not afraid of snakes.

Miss Misery Revisited

Since my last visit with San Francisco horror hostess Reyna Young, aka Miss Misery, she's earned an even higher profile among Bay Area horror aficionados. Her weekly TV show, Miss Misery's Movie Massacre (viewable throughout California on AT&T U-Verse) has quickly gained over 10,000 viewers, so far. Besides the classic horror and sci-fi movies she features on the show, her guests include some of the top names in the independent horror film industry, comic book authorities, as well as segments with fellow horror personalities and local celebs.

I recently caught up with Reyna for an update (and a little exclusive info) on her upcoming convention, "Miss Misery's Days of Terror" which is being held next month in Sacramento.

Miss Misery, "The Queen of Halloween"

If horror is your thing and you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, you should have heard of Reyna Young, better known as "Miss Misery," who’s been labeled by the local press as "The Queen of Horror in the Bay Area." The San Francisco native and CEO of Last Doorway Productions has been horror hosting, as well as producing, writing and appearing in indie horror films for the last five years. You can catch Miss Misery in the flesh at local horror conventions and comic shows that she frequents, often interviewing horror-biz personalities for her Last Doorway Show. She also hosts her annual A Nightmare to Remember International Film Festival and occasionally stops by Creepy KOFY Movie Time to mix it with No Name, Balrok and the Cave Girls.

With Halloween less that two months away, Miss Misery's plate is pretty full this time of year, but I was able to charm her into taking some time out from her busy schedule to do a brief interview with me.
