Author Amy McCorkle

Award-winning author and blogger Amy McCorkle, whose works have been published under her real name as well as her pen name, Kate Lynd, is probably most noted for her non-fiction book, Letters to Daniel, which was spawned by her blog of the same title. Started in May of 2013, the blog Letters to Daniel consisted of open letters she had written to actor Daniel Craig, whom Amy is a huge fan of. However, the entries in the blog were definitely not typical gushing, fan letters. They were written as is Amy were talking to a close friend and the subject matter ranged from light and humorous to, as Amy puts it; "dark, heavy shit most people take to their graves with them." Most of Amy's other works have been of the sci-fi and erotic romance genre, which have also been quite successful, making Amazon's paid best seller list.

The Kentucky native and avid Wildcats fan is also a screenwriter. Her first films, which she also produced, she chalks up to learning experiences, but, as this goes to press, her script for the film adaptation of Letters to Daniel has been nominated for best script by the International Christian Film Festival and is an official selection at the NOVA Fest (The Northern Virginia International Film & Music Festival). Andreea Boyer Revisited

Currently in Los Angeles, where she's been working on her new screenplay, actress and writer Andreea Boyer gave me an update (taking advantage of us being in the same time zone) on her activities since our first interview last summer. Besides appearing in Ulli Lommel's highly anticipated Boogeyman: Reincarnation, which is slated to be released this year, Andreea has added some prominent achievements to her list of studies since last August. Late last year, she studied with famed director Jack Garfein in Paris and then at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where she studied Shakespeare. While in London, she also landed the part of Veronica in the Marcus Warren's upcoming thriller Snapshot, which also stars Sasha Jackson (Blue Crush 2).

Certainly a name to look for watch as she shows remarkable dedication to her craft, Andreea also shares what gave her the passion for writing and performing, as well as how she enjoyed spending last Christmas with only the company of her friend's little dog.

Liane Langford - Red is Better

It's been over three years since actress, model, and (no kidding) Reddi-wip heiress Liane Langford has appeared on these pages. Since my last interview with her in October of 2012, Liane signed with a top San Francisco modeling agency and has done shoots with several notable photographers. She was a Vampirette for Pat Johnson's Malevolent Magazine shoot, posed with pink flamingos for Mark Pernal in Florida, was a girl with a gun in black lingerie for Lance Miller, and the flaming red muse for Robert Gifford's above photo illustration.

Liane's film appearances since her last interview here are even more notable. They include Joe Hollow's A Blood Story, which was released earlier this year, and her role as "Brenda the Badass Bartender" in Steve Oakley's Natural Born Filmmakers, which premiered at the Action On Film International Film Festival in September. Among her upcoming films are Ted V. Mikels' 10 Violent Women: Part Two, Cameron J. Scott's The Krokodil Chronicles, and Lawrence W. Nelson's You Found Me, that has a cast chock full of some of the best-known and talented ladies on the indie film scene today.

Creative Corner Interview with Ladyaslan

Anitra DeLorenzo, better known in the literary world as Ladyaslan, made her writing debut in 2007 with Victorian Days and Punk Rock Nights. This quote from a passage in the book should be enough to grab one's attention: "Red may be bold on lips....but I prefer mine naked, without enhancement, so you know exactly what you are getting.” And there's plenty more where that came from. Her follow-up, Lipstick and Absinthe, is a collection of Gothic poetry, short stories, and horror erotica, which Anitra dubs as "R-rated." Due to the abundant favorable reviews those books received, Anitra was invited to be a contributor to the Jamie Collins horror anthologies In the Midnight Hour and Into The Night - A Poetry Anthology.

Being the avid music fan that she is, Anitra has also written about and reviewed some of the most press-worthy indie metal bands currently on the scene. You can check out her article on the band Conquer As They Come in the most recent issue of Gorgeous Freaks Magazine.

Besides her writings, Anitra's is co-host of the The Asylum Radio Show, whose guests have been from as many branches of the entertainment industry as you'll see here at Idol Features. In fact, readers of this site can look forward to seeing Anitra's contributions here in the very near future.

Andreea Boyer

Born in Romania near the Bran Castle (more popularly known as Dracula's Castle), Andreea Boyer has had the desire to write and act from an early age. She had three books of her poetry collections published when she was only 15 and she wrote, directed, and co-starred in her short Jamira, and full-length film Mondo Americana, a year later. Currently, Andreea has just finished writing a screenplay for a full length film. She tells me it's an action film and she just sent off her work to an agency in Los Angeles, where she plans to make a return trip in late October. She also has a featured role alongside Tristan Risk (American Mary's "Beatress") in Ulli Lommel's upcoming Boogeyman: Reincarnation.

I found Andreea very charming, with a good sense of humor, and expressive eyes (she tells me change color with her emotions) that convey fervor reminiscent of Hollywood's silent screen stars. One of her favorite topics to talk about is food, which she will at length, especially the dishes she's tried from the countries she's visited. She raved about the simple fish and vegetable meals she had during her stay with the natives of Brazil's Bahia region and also told of an unpleasant experience she had with some bad carpaccio while in Paris earlier this year. Also very health conscious when it comes to food, Andreea says she feels guilty about eating meat ("It makes me feel like a lion when I do," she says), but vegetarianism just isn't for her.

Andreea also tells me she loves to travel and it gives her inspiration for her writings. She was in Paris until the middle of this May and, as of this writing, is back home in Munich. Her travel plans include another trip to the US next year, with Atlanta and San Francisco on her list of cities to visit. Tressa Graves

Horror novelist Tressa Graves is an intriguing lady, with a look very fitting to her occupation. As someone who's read a couple of her works, I did find her characters to be well-developed, the settings vivid, and the stories gripping, even though some will probably not be to everyone's taste. I know it's cliché to say "I couldn't put it down," but if you aren't flipping ahead to see how many pages are left to go in the chapter until you can take a break, then it's a gripping read, and that's what I've found Tressa's writing to be, particularly her short story The Lady in the Backyard.

As evident from reading the early chapters of her most recent novel, The Sawgrass Footpath, it's clear that Tressa seems to believe there's a significant cultural clash between Southerners, living in the heart of Dixie, and "Yanks." Perhaps there is, but before reading her humorous narratives of these incompatibilities, which are from a Southerner's point-of-view, I thought it was only Northerner's who were aware of it.

What follows is hardly what I'd consider an in-depth, or even full interview with Tressa, but for those who haven't heard of her, and are looking for something new by someone new to add to their horror library, here's an authoress whose works you may want to check out.

Tiffany Apan

A multifaceted lady, Pennsylvania native Tiffany Apan began her affair with music and theater at an early age and has since built up quite an impressive resume. To drop a couple of names; her first dance teacher was Gene Kelly's niece and she worked with jazz great Billy Harper in a production of Marta Effinger's Whispers Want to Holler, where she played a freestyle jazz singer.

Also a prolific fiction writer, Tiffany's Bloodlines series is another one of her works currently in progress. Originally intended to be "light and relatively happy with just a touch of paranormal mystery," she said she didn't like how the story was turning out and so she stopped to take a second look at it. After some refocusing, she then began uncovering things and just let the story flow naturally as it took a different direction. Not originally intended to be a series, the story expanded, and now it will be a four, or possibly five, book series.

It took a while, but I was finally able to get Tiffany to take time out to answer some questions for me. I had planned on doing an interview with her shortly after catching a very favorable review of her film, Driving Nowhere, (currently in post-production) and writing this this brief feature on it, but her schedule these days includes several irons in the fire, so I was lucky to get this in time for the Halloween season. In fact, as this goes to press, she's appearing this weekend at Horror Realm Con as one of the featured guests.

The above trailer for the soon-to-be-released supernatural thriller Driving Nowhere, features Tyffani Richards, Heidi Engel, and Tiffany Apan. The short film has gotten some very favorable reviews from fans and critics at the indie film festivals it's shown at, and even won the award for Best Horror Short Script at the 2012 International Indie Gathering Film Festival. Tiffany Apan, who, in addition to starring in the movie, wrote and directed it, is also a talented singer and musician. Learn more about her at her official website.

Liane Langford Revisited

After my first interview with Liane Langford, I knew that I'd just scratched the surface and she had a lot more tales to tell. I also knew the best time to for a follow-up interview with her would be during the Halloween season. Her blog post "It Only Comes Once a Year," and video of her shopping for caskets at Costco (yes, Costco) should save me from having to explain why.

The first thing Liane told me during our most recent conversation, was that she has an upcoming project in the works with our mutual friend and her fellow psychic, Scream Queen Debra Lamb (whom I've also had the pleasure of interviewing for this site). Going from what preliminary info Liane was willing to give me on that, it should be hilariously awesome that fans of dark humor should love.

Focusing on Halloween-related topics, we talked about such things as the old ladies who gave walnuts and pennies instead of candy when you'd come trick-or-treating, those cheap-o costumes they sold at department stores that tied in the back and had those PVC masks that made you sweat profusely, and her favorite graveyards. Speaking of which, Liane gives this site a shout-out in the above photo taken at the El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove, California ....one of her favorite resting grounds. Liane Langford

My first telephone conversation with Liane Langford lasted well over an hour, but it seemed like only about 10 minutes. I had my list of questions ready for a straightforward Q&A session, but we quickly fell into a conversation like two old friends catching up. The former centerfold model and current interior designer and art dealer has a very colorful background. With anecdotes that include names like Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock), Roger Taylor (of Queen), Alice Cooper, Rosanna Arquette, and Peter Frampton (who taught her how to properly make tea), I'll definitely buy her tell-all autobiography, if and when she writes it.

When Liane mentioned the titles and issues of some of the magazines she's appeared in, I knew I'd seen her before. The titles and dates coincided with the collection of men's magazines I compiled as a teenager. (If the clerk wouldn't sell a copy to me, I'd hang out outside the store and ask a clearly-over-21 male to do me the favor of purchasing it for me.) I did some checking and I was right. It's not every guy who gets to meet one of the ladies he ogled on the pages of his favorite girly mag as a teen, so talking with Liane was quite a fulfillment for me. What follows are the extracted and condensed Q&A from my conversations with Liane. It had to be condensed because her tales of Toby alone could fill a whole book ....and may someday.
